I love the end of the day in summertime. I keep supplies on hand to make S'mores with the children. I let them find dried leaves to make the fire. I let one of them help me to light it. Then we make the s'mores and they eat it up. This is a special treat if they have a friend over...makes it more special. Sometimes I will take pictures of us by the fire or eating or playing. Then at the end of summer I compile the pictures into a small video and we all watch it and laugh and talk about the memories. I actually like to do the video for each season. It is just that Summer is the MOST FUN! We are all more relaxed.

My two girls may appear prim and proper in our most recent studio photo but they are anything but that. Looking at the photo, I can't believe they have grown to be such lovely young smart ladies whom any parents would be proud of.

Indeed, it wasn't so long ago when they were just innocent young playful children. They were quite a handful, especially my younger girl who used to have a hot temper and would throw tantrums. She would wail for hours and was so hard to control that we sometimes didn't know what to do except to leave her outside our flat till she calmed down. We often felt guilty about that and would soon bring her in. The older girl was quieter and milder, definitely easier to manage and gave us little trouble.

But now that they are fine young ladies, I miss their childhood days and the hard times we had raising and disciplining them. Our children have really grown up too fast for my liking for soon they are going to leave us once they get married. How I wish I could turn back the clock and relive both the good and terrible days of bringing up our girls.

Both girls are a constant source of joy for without them, my life as a parent won't be complete, exciting or enjoyable. I believe it is our children who make us feel young and whole again, who bring us on a lifelong journey of adventure and fun so we never really know what to expect next. In short, our girls make us feel alive and happy, keeping us on our toes all the time.

I truly treasure all the times we spend together.

This photo was taken on 4th May at Ikoi Japanese Restaurant. My elder brother brought the whole family there to celebrate Mother's Day in advance. Together with us are my brother's fiancee and my boyfriend of 7months. Making special mention as that day marked our 7th month. Ha!
I love taking family photos everywhere but somehow it can only capture the moments. Moments when we're happy and having fun together. What's truly precious to me is the journey we've taken as a family. The difficult times we braved through together which made us stronger. Moments when we were crying our hearts out in pain of being misunderstood, feelings of betrayal, loneliness and not being good enough. The sacrifices made by different ones which can never be captured by photos because true love never boasts in big acts. It simply gives quietly on a daily basis and this very love kept the family going for it never fails.
This photo may be a very ordinary photo to an onlooker but to me, my family faces are like magic mirrors i look into and i see my past, present and future with them. The past might not have been the most smoothsailing but because of what we went through, it has made us stronger as a family now and though the future is uncertain, the very thing we can be certain of based on what we've gone through till now is that we'll always have one another till death do us part. On knowing that Im comforted and it gives me great joy to continue taking photos of my family especially for my brother's upcoming wedding in Dec.
May we keep in mind that every day that we get to spend with our family is a gift from heaven for we know not what will happen tomorrow so let's cherish today and as I take all these photos, may I one day look back with my own children to share with them what a great mum i had in my growing up years. This is for you mum. Happy Mother's Day and i look forward to many more.

A rare moment when everyone of us got together and went on a vacation in Perth where there was not a lot to do but to enjoy each others' company =)
